Advent Giving Tree

This Christmas, provide a special gift to someone in need! In years past, your generous participation has given parents the opportunity to give gifts to their children, provided thoughtfully considered wish list items to adults with disabilities, and given our homeless brothers and sisters clothing and other necessities that offer hope and dignity.

The Giving Tree will be in a new location this year—our new gathering space! Please stop by before/after Mass or come to the Parish Center during business hours to select a tag. The tags are color coded for each of the recipient organizations. Each tag has varying deadlines! This year, we are supporting the following organizations and their clients:

  • The orange tags indicate gifts for clients at Midwest Special Services (MSS) who support developmentally disabled adults.
  • MSS has made a change to the way they are giving their clients gifts this year. Instead of requesting specific items for each client, they are having the clients choose their gifts from a special catalog. MSS is requesting that we donate the value of the item(s) in either cash or with a check (made out to MSS) so they are able to buy the gifts.
  • Please put the cash or check in an envelope with the tag, mark it for the Giving Tree, and put it in the collection basket or drop it off at the parish center.
  • The deadline for MSS gifts is December 15.

  • The yellow tags indicate gifts for Women's Advocates who operate a shelter for women and their children.
  • They are requesting specific items this year: Culturally specific hair care products, feminine/personal hygiene products, and winter coats (all sizes are needed except adult small and children 14-16.)
  • Please attach the yellow tag to your unwrapped donation and place it underneath the Giving Tree.

  • The red tags indicate gifts for the Annual Toy Giveaway sponsored by STM.
  • Requests include Target gift cards, board games for ages 5-12, soft baby toys, and teen gifts of cosmetics, hair care products, electronic games, and gift cards.
  • Place gift cards in an envelope with the tag, mark it for the Giving Tree, and put it in the collection basket or drop it off at the parish center.
  • Place unwrapped gifts with their tags underneath the Giving Tree.
  • The deadline for Toy Giveaway gifts is December 3.

  • The green tags indicate gifts for the STM Free Store whose clients are in need of clothing or household goods.
  • These tags include the Free Store's most needed items.
  • You may place the unwrapped items with their green tags under the Giving Tree.

  • The blue tags indicate gifts for Listening House of St. Paul whose clients are homeless.
  • Warm clothing is needed—especially men’s pants sizes 30-38 and men’s boots.
  • You may place the unwrapped gifts with their tags under the Giving Tree.
