Ecumenical Choral Vespers with St. John's Episcopal Church & St. Paul-Reformation Lutheran Church

MARCH 20, 7 PM, ST. PAUL-REFORMATION LUTHERAN CHURCH

Join us for Choral Vespers celebrating the season of Lent featuring the choirs of Saint Thomas More, St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, and St. Paul-Reformation Lutheran Church. The service is modeled after the evening praise of all three liturgical traditions. We are delighted to offer this opportunity of ecumenism. All are welcome to attend!

What is Vespers?

Vespers, also called Evening Prayer, is part of the Liturgy of the Hours. Evening Prayer gives thanks for the day just past and makes an evening sacrifice of praise to God.

Liturgy of the Hours is an ancient, structured way of praying throughout the day, focusing especially on the Psalms. The Liturgy of the Hours includes the Office of Readings, Morning Prayer, Daytime Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Night Prayer. Each time of prayer includes hymns, scripture, and intercessions. Through this prayer, the people of God sanctify the day by continual praise of God and prayers of intercession for the needs of the world.
