Vatican II and the Call to Evangelization


6-MONTH STUDY BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 15, 7:30-9 PM, VIRTUAL



We are delighted to find that Sr. Catherine Michaud's discussion on the Second Vatican Council in June left many participants with a desire to read the Documents of this important council with a deeper understanding. Because several people have expressed interest in a guided reading of the Council’s Documents, Sr. Catherine has agreed to facilitate a “Documents study group” that will meet monthly for six months! There will be a special emphasis on how the Documents of the Council can inform our evangelization work today. This is especially relevant to us in the Archdiocese of SPM since one of the recently-announced focus areas of the ongoing Archdiocesan Synod is "forming parishes that are in the service of evangelization."

The study group will meet via Zoom on the third Tuesday of every month from 7:30-9 pm over the course of six months.    Participants will have the opportunity to meditatively read the key Documents of the Council, share insights with other participants, and receive input as needed by Catherine Michaud, CSJ.

The cost to register is $30. We will provide the text Vatican Council II: The Conciliar and Postconciliar Documents by Austin Flannery. All are welcome!


OUR GROUP FACILITATOR


Catherine Michaud, a Sister of St. Joseph of Concordia, Kansas, is a systematic theologian with a Sacred Licentiate in Theology (STL) and doctorate with specialties in ecclesiology and the theology of the Holy Spirit (pneumatology) from Jesuit universities. She also holds an M.A. in Spirituality with Jesuit training in spiritual direction and retreat work. For over 25 years she was a professor of theology and spirituality at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Briefly in the 70s she was the director of her religious congregation’s retreat center in Kansas. While she continues to be engaged in research, writing, and giving public lectures in her areas of specialty, Vatican Council II and the Holy Spirit, she has returned to her roles as spiritual director and retreat leader.
