Summer of More

The Summer of More program is available to students entering 6-12 grade this fall. Each month will consist of two dates with a speaker or activity related to one of three themes: Ignite (June), Glorify (July), and Go (August). The registration fee for the entire summer is $150/child, with a family cap of $375. If you would like to register your child but aren’t available for 3 or more of the dates, please email Lindsey directly.

Before our faith can grow, we need an initial spark. The month of June will focus on igniting the flame for our Catholic faith so we can continue our lives growing in passion for God.

Parents are encouraged to attend our kickoff event on June 11. The day will start with a testimony by Director of Youth Faith Formation Lindsey Bernardy and end with a picnic and kickball game for all (yes, even parents) to enjoy.

Transparency is an important element in accompaniment, and it is important for both the youth and their families to know who will be accompanying the kids through their unique faith journeys in the coming weeks, months, and years.

The second summer event will include a speaker, praise and worship, and a pizza party with time for fellowship and reflection.

Rooted in the Gospels and formed by Ignatian spirituality, the mission of the Catholic Community of Saint Thomas More is to glorify God by our lives.

In accordance with our church’s mission, July’s focus will be on how we can actively glorify God in our own lives, using our own unique gifts. Featuring parishoners Steve Stenzel and Emma Schaffer, the speakers come from different fields of study and will discuss how their work and live’s missions are Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam: for the greater glory of God.

Each session will be followed by an off-campus activity. On July 9th, we will go to Bunker Beach Water Park, and on July 29, we will go to Gameshow Battle Rooms.

At the end of Mass, we are commanded to “go in peace to love and serve the Lord.” In the month of August, the youth will be challenged to GO and put what they have learned about their faith into action.
Each session will begin with liturgical celebrations and be followed by a volunteer opportunity and off-campus activity. On August 12, we will participate in adoration and the Sacrament of Reconciliation before packing meals at Feed My Starving Children. Then, we will head to WhirlyBall.

On August 27, we will attend Mass with the general congregation before heading to volunteer at Second Stork, then we will wrap up our summer by attending a Minnesota United soccer game at Allianz Field.

Chaperones Needed

We are seeking chaperones to attend these events. If you are interested in attending with your child at no cost (and a discount for your child), make note on the registration form and Lindsey will reach out to you!
