Church Ceiling Repairs
AUGUST 11, 2022
Dear Parishioners,
You most likely have noticed that there are portions of the ceiling in the church where the paint is peeling and, in some spots, the plaster crumbling. More importantly, you are probably wondering if anyone is planning to fix this. We are! Members of your Buildings & Grounds Committee have been monitoring this for a number of months. The delay is associated with the need to fix the underlying problem (water infiltration) first. We believe that we have completed the necessary repairs to the roof and adjacent walls. We are now waiting for the walls themselves to dry more completely before we have the plaster repaired and the walls repainted. Given the thickness of these walls and the amount of moisture present, this has taken a very long time. But, with the use of infrared photographs, we think we are nearly ready to actually do a test to determine if we can start the repairs. If all is ready, we expect to have the repairs completed before Advent. In the meantime, we thank you for your patience.
