A Note from Fr. Peter Etzel, SJ, our new Associate Pastor
JUNE 29, 2022
Greetings!
I am grateful to be missioned to the St. Thomas More Community. A Jesuit for almost 40 years and a priest for 28, I’ve served in a variety of pastoral ministries and cultures. My most recent assignment was at a Jesuit parish in Detroit, MI.
I’m no stranger to Lexington & Summit. Some of you may already know me. I was a novice at the Jesuit Novitiate across the street (1983-85). I was the associate pastor here when St Thomas More was known as St. Luke’s (1999-2001). Richard Burbach was pastor. I have given many retreats at Demontreville in Lake Elmo. I have now come full circle.
Please don’t hold it against me that my favorite sports teams are in Wisconsin. I’m a Milwaukee native and a University of Wisconsin Madison graduate. I look forward to our friendly rivalries.
Many good things are happening at St. Thomas More. I look forward to ministering with you. I want to learn from you and Fr RJ what it means to be an associate pastor at St Thomas More. Let’s spend time getting to know one another in the months ahead.
Fr. Peter Etzel, SJ
