Meet our Cristo Rey Work Study Interns - Victor

Victor R. G. is a junior at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Minneapolis. Victor and his family live in Minneapolis. 

Hello St. Thomas More Community!

My name is Victor. I’m a junior at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School. My time at Cristo Rey has been great. I really enjoy how welcoming the school is and how supportive everyone is. There’s always someone you can talk to if you need anything. Cristo Rey has a really family-like feeling.  Cristo Rey offers many extracurricular activities–including Robotics! I hope to join the team some day.

When I’m not in school I like going out with my cousins and going out to eat. I always have a good time with them and it helps me wind down after a long week. I also enjoy practicing and playing the guitar. I’m entering my third year of playing and I’m confident saying that I’m pretty good at it. Lastly, I also like wasting gas and driving around to find cool new spots. It’s something that feels soothing and calming to me.  

During my time at St. Thomas More I have been able to develop many skills. At the beginning I was shy answering phone calls but throughout my time here I’ve gotten more confident. I’ve also gotten more proficient at multitasking while doing projects that have been assigned to me. The staff here are really great and nice, everybody here is so welcoming and just the best. Overall my time and the community here have been a great experience and I enjoy being here.

About the Cristo Rey Work Study Program


Cristo Rey Jesuit empowers students to be college-ready and career-prepared with an innovative Corporate Work-Study Program that employs 100% of their students.  Students earn approximately half of the cost of their education through a job-sharing partnership with their classmates to cover a full-time position, Monday through Friday, from late-August to mid-June. Cristo Rey's experiential learning model is unique as they are the only school in Minneapolis/St. Paul that incorporates on-site job experience into its academic curriculum.
