Corpus Christi with the Church of St. Peter Claver
JUNE 2, 10:30 AM MASS
DETAILS
On the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the communities of Saint Thomas More and
St. Peter Claver
will once again be joining together for Mass and a Eucharistic Procession. Mass will take place at Saint Thomas More Church at 10:30 am.
After Mass, we will process with the Blessed Sacrament from Saint Thomas More, down the sidewalk of Lexington Avenue, to Saint Peter Claver (1060 Central Ave W, St. Paul, MN 55104) for Benediction. After, there will be an informal time of fellowship!
We will still celebrate our usual 4:30 pm Saturday and 8 am Sunday Masses at STM. Any updates regarding weather will be posted on this webpage.
A DISPLAY OF UNITY
In the wake of ongoing racial injustice and social unrest, it is important for us to join together, in unity, to honor the Lord on the Feast of the Body and Blood of the Lord (Corpus Christi). The Eucharist is the source and summit of the whole Christian life. A Eucharistic Procession, therefore, is a public witness of our veneration toward the most holy Eucharist, conducted through public streets. Like a pilgrimage, a eucharistic procession normally starts at one holy place and ends at another. This earthly journey reminds the Catholic faithful of their spiritual journey toward eternal life with God.
In countries around the world, Eucharistic Processions incorporate rich cultural traditions with colorful outfits, music, and drums. Processions powerfully display the incarnation, or God becoming human, and thus speak of his merciful love for all who journey to eternal life with him.
By joining our parish communities together and processing over I-94 and through the Rondo Neighborhood, we remember the racial divides and injustices that continue to harm our community. By taking part in the procession, we commit ourselves again to following Christ in our lives. As brothers and sisters in our Eucharistic Lord, we ask the Lord’s blessing for healing, justice, and peace.
