 2021 Year-End Giving

We are most thankful for your continued support of Saint Thomas More Catholic Community. In the face of these challenging times, this parish continues to be a source of faith and hope. Your philanthropic gift has never been more important. We ask you to prayerfully consider giving a year-end gift by December 31st!

Recent changes to tax laws under the CARES Act create an incentive for additional charitable giving in 2021. These opportunities may be important for you to consider and may help with potential tax savings as we approach the end of the year:

  • Charitable Deduction Increases: Individuals who do not itemize can claim up to $300 in federal deductions for charitable contributions and married couples can claim up to $600. The charitable deduction for cash gifts to charities has increased from up to 60% of individual adjusted gross income (AGI) to up to 100%. Plus, deduction amounts above this limit may be carried over for up to five tax years.

  • Required Minimum Distributions: Minimum distributions from IRA accounts for individuals over age 72 are required for 2021. Account owners over age 70 1/2 can make a significant charitable gift directly from an IRA to Saint Thomas More through a qualified charitable distribution. For more information on making a QCD from your IRA, please contact your IRA plan administrator.

  • Appreciated Stock: Due to the strong market, gifts of publicly traded securities may allow you to make a significant charitable gift and help you avoid capital gains tax.

  • Saint Thomas More is a Qualified Charity: All donations to the parish are tax deductible; please confer with your tax advisor for details on the impact of making a year-end gift to Saint Thomas More.
