Seeking Applicants: Director of Communications

DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Communications is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing all marketing and communication initiatives for Saint Thomas More Catholic Community, including both the church and school. This role ensures all messaging and media reflect the parish’s mission, values, and brand through cohesive and engaging content across digital and print platforms.
DUTIES:
Develop and execute communication and marketing strategies that unify church and school messaging.
Collaborate with staff, ministries, and leadership to create campaigns that promote events, stewardship, and parish initiatives.
Design and manage content for all communication channels, including websites, email newsletters, social media, bulletins, flyers, brochures, and signage.
Maintain and update church and school websites to ensure accuracy, visual appeal, and user-friendly navigation.
Produce video content that promotes internal parish engagement as well as engagement from the wider community.
Manage the church and school social media presence across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok), aiming for 3 or more posts per week.
Coordinate and design weekly parish email communications and newsletters.
Collaborate with livestream volunteers to ensure high-quality virtual Masses and events.
Create eye-catching digital signage displays playing multimedia content on tv display screens in our school and church.
Photograph church and school events; organize and manage a digital asset library.
Support communication needs for individual ministries and provide tools for volunteer communication teams.
Work with vendors for the production of print materials and media as needed.
Share parish stories and news through various media channels to foster community connection.
Prepare and distribute press releases and official communications to local and regional media outlets to promote church events, initiatives, and community engagement.
Stay current on trends in digital communication, marketing, and technology.
Recruit and manage volunteers to support communication initiatives.
Supervise, assign projects, and support the communications intern.
Recruit advisory team and lead quarterly meetings.
Provide input to the Parish Finance Council in the preparation of the annual budget as needed.
Offer administrative and logistical support for ongoing and special projects as requested by staff, parish leadership, or ministry leaders.
Communicate consistently with the supervisor regarding priorities, upcoming responsibilities, and ongoing projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
Graphic design, photography, videography, and social content development skills required
