Update on Donations to the Free Store

AUGUST 17, 2022

Dear parishioners,

Our STM Free Store ministry greatly appreciates the generous donations of clothing and non-electric household goods made by our parishioners and community members. At this time we are experiencing an overabundance of certain inventory, exceeding our space limitations. Therefore we are sending out a few updates and reminders about donations:

  • For the time being, please limit your donations to a couple of bags of most-needed items which are to be dropped off in the designated Free Store bins in the church.

  • If you have a larger donation, we recommend taking it to the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store on West 7th Street in St. Paul. The drop off door is in the back of the store, off Sturgis Street. Donation hours are Monday-Friday from 9:30 am - 4:30 pm and Saturday from 9:30 am - 2:30 pm.

  • Unfortunately we have recently received many items we cannot use or accept (which means we have to spend valuable volunteer time disposing of them). Items we cannot take include:
    - Anything dirty, stained, torn or broken
    - Baby items such as car seats, swings, pack and plays, strollers, high chairs
    - Furniture
    - Recalled items
    - Electrics/Electronics

  • At this time, our most-needed items include:
    - New underwear
    - Socks
    - Sports bras
    - Gently used boys clothing
    - Junior apparel
    - Towels
    - Pots and pans

Thank you for helping us keep the Free Store up and running efficiently for those in need of our services!
