Meet our Cristo Rey Work Study Interns - Wilmer

Wilmer is a senior at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Minneapolis. Wilmer and his family live in Minneapolis.

Hello Saint Thomas More Community!

I am excited to be part of this community as an intern and help out everyone in the parish office and Saint Thomas More School every Tuesday and occasionally on Friday. I am excited to help out everyone in the community as best as I can.

My name is Wilmer J. I am from Ecuador but was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am a Senior at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School–class of 2024. I love soccer and will always love it, but recently tore my ACL and meniscus in a soccer match. I may not be able to currently enjoy it but it motivates me to work harder to get back to the sport I love.

I believe that Saint Thomas More will be a great stepping stool in my life to get closer to loved ones and to my faith. Seeing how other people feel about their faith and finding similarities and differences has been good for me. I also have a goal to get accepted into my dream college that I've always wanted to go to which coincidentally is Saint Thomas.

Once again, I'm grateful for being placed at Saint Thomas More as an intern and for being able to put my skills to use in the parish office.

About the Cristo Rey Work Study Program

Cristo Rey Jesuit empowers students to be college-ready and career-prepared with an innovative Corporate Work-Study Program that employs 100% of their students. Students earn approximately half of the cost of their education through a job-sharing partnership with their classmates to cover a full-time position, Monday through Friday, from late-August to mid-June. Cristo Rey's experiential learning model is unique as they are the only school in Minneapolis/St. Paul that incorporates on-site job experience into its academic curriculum.
