An Evening with Dr. Michael Naughton

An Evening with Dr. Michael Naughton

JANUARY 15, 7 PM, ST. IGNATIUS HALL

Description of the Event:

STM Respect Life Committee invites you to come hear University of Saint Thomas Dr. Michael Naughton give a talk about respecting life. In keeping with Archbishop Hebda's theme for the year ahead, Mike will open with the exhortation to "Reclaim Sunday." He will reach into the world of Josef Peiper (Leisure the Basis of Culture) and identify the importance of preserving Sunday as a day of stepping away from the work of reconstruction — stepping away to appreciate and receive life as a gift.

Only when we can appreciate and receive life as a true gift to each and every one of us — will we then be able to adopt a posture of defending life wherever and whenever it needs defending in the "culture of death" that appears to surround us (depression, suicide rates, loss of religious faith, legalization of euthanasia, efforts to legalize seriously addictive drugs). So from "Recovering Sunday" to "receiving life as a gift" to "defending human life wherever we find it" — this is the path of respect for life.
