Meet our Pastoral Council: Rhonda Miska

Hello Saint Thomas More Community,

I have been a parishioner at STM since 2021 after relocating to the Twin Cities area in 2020. I was drawn to the parish because I have deep Jesuit roots: I am a graduate of the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry, a former Jesuit Volunteer (Nicaragua 2002-2004), and worked in close partnership with a Jesuit (the late Fr Paul Brant, SJ)  in the Diocese of Richmond, VA. Since I work in full-time ministry at the Church of St. Timothy in Blaine, it was also important for me to find a parish home that was not also my workplace and employer. At STM I have sung in the choir, served as a RCIA/OCIA sponsor, and offered preached reflections at Sunday Masses. I have found the parish to be vibrant and engaging, with a strong commitment to justice and Ignatian spirituality.

I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry in Preaching at the Aquinas Institute of Theology. In addition to working in parish ministry, I am a writer and spiritual director. I am passionate about supporting and accompanying women with the preaching charism, a result of the five years I spent in discernment and formation with the Order of Preachers (Dominican). I serve on the advisory board of Catholic Women Preach and am the founder of the Catholic Womens' Preaching Circle

I look forward to serving on the PPC and hope to contribute to efforts to help STM read and respond to the signs of the times, live out our mission, and implement the vision articulated by the Synod on Synodality.

Sincerely,

Rhonda Miska
