What is Vespers?
Vespers, also called Evening Prayer, is part of the Liturgy of the Hours. Evening Prayer gives thanks for the day just past, giving glory to God in all things.
Liturgy of the Hours is an ancient, structured way of praying throughout the day, focusing especially on the Psalms. The Liturgy of the Hours includes the Office of Readings, Morning Prayer, Daytime Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Night Prayer. Each time of prayer includes hymns, scripture, and intercessions. Through this prayer, the people of God sanctify the day by continual praise of God and prayers of intercession for the needs of the world.
