Campaign Financial FAQs

As part of our commitment to keeping this community informed, we're sharing detailed answers to the financial questions we hear most often about This Holy Place: costs, what's been spent, funding sources, and our construction timeline. This page will be updated with more FAQs as the campaign progresses and we hear questions from our community.

How much are the individual projects going to cost?
At this point in the design process, we do not have guaranteed prices for any of the projects and are working off of estimates. The church roof and exterior restoration is estimated to cost $8 million including architecture fees. This cost is based on detailed construction plans and a significant portion of materials have already been purchased, so the main driver of cost increases would be unforeseen issues that arise during construction. The school plumbing and bathroom construction is still in the design phase and so there is less certainty about pricing; it is currently estimated at $3.9 million including architecture fees. The school playground is also in the design phase and is estimated at $400,000. 


What expenses have we already paid?
We have paid $685,344 towards the church exterior construction so far; the majority of this is the cost of the roof tiles which must be ordered far in advance. We have already fulfilled our $570,000 obligation to the Archdiocese as part of our collaborative campaign within the larger Archdiocesan Lord, Renew your Church campaign. In addition, we have paid approximately $215,000  in architecture fees and anticipate a total of $392,000 in development expenses by the end of June 2027. We do not anticipate any major additional non-construction related expenses at this point in the campaign. 


Will there be any financing or debt involved?
Because pledges are being collected over 5 years but we are starting the projects now, we will need to utilize financing to bridge the gap between upfront costs and receiving pledges. This adds anywhere between $300,000 to $1.1 million in extra expense depending on interest rates and what percentage of gifts are received up front versus at the end of the 5 year pledge window. The expenses associated with a 5 year bridge loan have been calculated into our fundraising goal. Our hope is to raise the entire amount needed through pledges and grants so that we will not need to take on any additional long term debt in order to complete these projects.  


What is the timeline for construction?
The custom tile for the church roof has been purchased and construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2027 with targeted completion by the end of the year. The bathroom design work is in process with tentative plans to begin plumbing work in the basement this coming winter. This project is projected to take 9 months and will be done in phases so that the school building can remain usable during construction. We are finalizing options for the playground and are hoping to install this during the current 2026/27 school year.
