A Note from our Visiting Priest, Fr. Daniel Kennedy, SJ
A note from our Visiting Priest, Fr. Daniel Kennedy, SJ
JUNE 15, 2023
Fr. Daniel Kennedy, SJ blesses Fr. R.J. Fichtinger, SJ after his first Mass at Marquette University, 06/12/23
Hello, St. Thomas More Community!
What a treat it is for me to be joining the STM community for the next month and a half as a new priest. I was at the Jesuit novitiate right next to the parish from 2012-2014, and the church has a special place in my heart since it is where I professed my first vows. Also, there are few places I enjoy more than the Twin Cities in the summer.
I am a proud native of Toledo, OH, yes, that Toledo of John Denver’s song Saturday Night in Toledo, Ohio and Clinger from MASH. I met the Jesuits in high school and in my undergraduate studies at Boston College. After completing the novitiate in St. Paul, I went on to do the requisite philosophy and theology studies for ordination at Saint Louis University and Regis College at the University of Toronto, respectively. Between the two degrees, I was the Director of Student Activities at Creighton Prep in Omaha, NE, so I have experience. Needless to say, Jesuit formation has taken many places, but I am glad I can return to where my Jesuit journey started as a priest.
I look forward to getting to know the parish community during my time here. I believe so much in the spiritual life begins and ends with gratitude, so let me say how grateful I am to be with you all. Thank you in advance for teaching me what it means to be a priest during my first few weeks as one. If I can be of any help or you just want to chat, just contact the parish office.
Sincerely,
Fr. Daniel Kennedy, SJ
