Day of Reflection: Praying with Modern Day Mystics

APRIL 13, 8:30 AM – 3 PM, SAINT IGNATIUS HALL

When we speak of mystics, it would not be surprising if the first names that came to mind were people like Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, Julian of Norwich or Ignatius of Loyola.  But while it is true that Medieval Europe experienced a flowering of Christian mysticism emphasizing direct experience of God, we find mystics in every generation.

This day of retreat and reflection will invite us to consider and pray with the writings and reflections of some of the modern day men and women to deserve the label of mystic.  Some of them will be familiar names, such as Thomas Merton, while others, like Thea Bowman, are perhaps less well known (though no less valuable for us to know about).  The day will include presentations, time for individual prayer and reflection, and the opportunity to share the fruits of our reflections in small groups. A light lunch will be provided.

We will begin with Mass in the church at 8:30 am followed by the retreat in Saint Ignatius Hall. We hope you will join us for retreat—sign up below!
