Dr. Austen Ivereigh

November 16, 10 am

World renowned Catholic writer and commentator, Dr. Austen Ivereigh, will be speaking at Saint Thomas More on November 16! The theme of his talk will be "The Pope as a Jesuit: How Francis is putting discernment at the heart of his reform of the Church.” Dr. Ivereigh is one of the leading interpreters of the Francis papacy.

Dr. Ivereigh is a contributor to Crux, The Guardian, The New York Times, Commonweal, America magazine, The Tablet, and is a well-known commentator on The BBC.

Dr. Ivereigh has unique insight into Francis' background due to his study of Argentinean Church history. He earned his doctorate in 1992 for a thesis on the Church in Argentina at the University of Oxford and is now a Fellow in Contemporary Church History at Oxford.

His best-selling authoritative biography, "The Great Reformer: Francis and the Making of a Radical Pope," reveals how his Jesuit training in Argentina and Chile gave him a unique understanding and advocacy for a "Church of the Poor."

He is visiting the U.S. to promote his new book "Wounded Shepherd: Pope Francis and His Struggle to Convert the Catholic Church." There will be a book signing and reception following the talk. We are very fortunate to have him visit our beautiful Jesuit parish!
